This beautiful print in its original frame is a ‘reproduction collotype from the original painting in oils’ as stated on the label. Ivor Hitchens (1893 - 1979) is a highly individualistic British painter mainly of landscapes. He often used this stretched horizontal format for his canvases which encourage and draws the viewer in and across the picture, like the calm contemplation of nature. The surface has texture and when I first saw it I thought it was an actual painting. Condition is excellent and the colours are still vibrant and crisp, true to the original. The frame is original and stunning and wonderfully mid century.
